When Khaled Bichara was appointed the Group Chief Executive Officer
of the telecom giant Orascom Telecom Holdings S.A.E, few people were
surprised. It was merely another commendable step in a career that had
seen Khaled Bichara grow from height to height.
Khaled Bichara is an active advisory member for the computer science
department in the American University in Cairo from which he earned his
degree, Mr. Khaled Bichara has been instrumental in the success of
numerous companies in a career that has spanned an impressive 15 years.
Khaled Bichara’s flair and understanding of telecommunication and
information technology affairs has allowed him to lead the trend.
For example at the dawn of the century, Mr. Khaled Bichara was
responsible for the foundation and pioneering of LDN (LINKdotNET).
Under Khaled Bichara’s leadership as chairman and CEO, LDN grew to
become the biggest private provider of internet services. Khaled
Bichara’s success however did not just stop there.
The reputation and influence of LINKdotNET as well as the respect
for Khaled Bichara’s vision was so widely recognized that the company
was chosen by Microsoft as a partner in landmark relationship designed
to improve the experience of the internet for people.
With the assistance of Microsoft and the contributed services of
Khaled Bichara’s LDN company, users within the Middle East where able
to benefit from the region’s very first global portal enabling people
to enjoy, amongst other benefits, the feel and use of MSN.
Three years after this partnership with LDN, Khaled Bichara gained a
seat on the board of the Orascom Telecom, a position that he has
maintained till today. Alongside this, Khaled Bichara was also the
Chief Operating Officer of Wind Telecomunicazioni.
During his period at WIND, Khaled Bichara led the company through a
vibrant series of restructuring aimed at turning the poor results of
the company into more effective ones. Khaled Bichara’s efforts were so
productive that he succeeding in reversing the downward slide of the
company and then proceeded to transform it into one of the leaders of
the mobile, broadband and fixed line operators within Europe.
Khaled Bichara was initially appointed the Chief Operating Officer
of Orascom Telecom before his promotion to CEO. Khaled Bichara has been
on the company’s board of directors since 2003. Alongside his position
at Orascom, Khaled Bichara is also a member of several company boards.
With his new position as the CEO of Orascom, Mr. Khaled Bichara is
undoubtedly expected to lead the company into newer and better fields
of success. Already voted the Young Executive of the Year (an award
conferred on executives who are below the age of 40) and found on the
seats of numerous telecom and IT companies between Europe and Asia,
there is little doubt that, in the years ahead Mr. Khaled Bichara will
become an even bigger name.
With his past records and current dedication, there is evidence that
Mr. Khaled Bichara firmly intends to see just how big that can be.
Khaled Bichara is a member of numerous associations one of which is the Egyptian Software Association.
